Spanish American War
Company F 16th Regiment

  • May 3, 1898- Today ex-captain J. G. Crawford received a dispatch from Captain Barr, Mt. Gretna, askingthat he get 17 men for Company F and 30 for company E in readiness to move at short notice to Camp hastings.
  • April 26, 1898- Company F will leave wwith full ranks for Mt. Gretna tomorrow. Members of the G.A.R. will escort the company to the train.
  • April 26, 1898-The Spanish Auxiliary Crusier, Panama, the first warship to be captured was stopped with one shot.
  • January 4, 1908- A combined drill of companies E and F will be held in the Franklin Armory next Tuesday night.

John Murray Reed of Oil City. Died at home, Sun, evening, age 70.
Mayor of Oil City 4 years. Entered the Oil Exchange in 1879.
Served in Spanish American War. Comanding 2nd battalion, 16th regimen
