COOPERSTOWN George H. and Ella Collins Austin


This home, now demolished, was next to the Old Cooperstown Pioneer Cemetery on South Main Street. The George H. and Ella Collins Austin family lived here for many years and he took care of the old cemetery. Mr. Austin was a veteran of the Civil War, being a member of Company K, 36th Wisconsin Volunteers. Children were: Robert, Carl, Irvin, Herbert and Mary. Mr. Austin died in 1920 at age 74 and Mrs. Austin died in 1936 at age 77. They are buried in Cooperstown Cemetery .
