COOPERSTOWN Addison and Lydia Collins Cease

This home, located on Factory Street, was the home of Addison and Lydia Collins Cease. The following information about the family is taken from the Cooperstown Area History 1776 -1976. “The town stone mason was Addison “Shorty” Cease. He was about 5 foot tall, but he could move a building stone weighing a ton or more into a cellar wall he was building, using an iron crowbar, a couple of lengths of pipe for rollers, and some oak boards for track. His wife, Lydia, was about 5 foot 9 inches and was the sister of Mrs. George Austin and Ola Collins. Their daughter, Cora Cease, married Harry Proper. Harry worked for many years at the Franklin Creek Oil Refinery.” Mrs. Cease died in 1925 at age 64 and Mr. Cease died in 1926 at age 70.
