MEMORANDA OF SCHOOLS TAUGHT BY JACOB NORCROSS
IN A LOG CABIN ON THE WENTWORTH FARM,
OPPOSITE CUSTALOGA'S TOWN
(NOW C. H. HEYDRICK PLACE - 1879) IN THE FALL OF 1808 OR 1809.
For the following list of pupils and parents,
we are indebted toJames M. Daily, of Frenchcreek township, Mercer county,
himself beingone of the scholars.

  • John and Martha Coxon (Coxson) -- Wm., Christopher, Marg't, John
  • Samuel Bunnell -- Issac, Sally, Peggy, Alfred

The average attendance per week was twenty-nine. The tuitionwas sixpence per week for each scholar. The term consisted of fourmonths."
