HISTORICAL PICTURE PROJECT

The central theme of this Project is to develop a library containing individual familyphotographs with history &/or comments on standard 8 1/2 by 11 sheets of paper. ThisProject was first conceived as a means of preserving & identifying old photographs frommy Mother’s various family lines which were given to this family historian by his elderlyAunt. The Project was further enhanced when a like number of old family photographsfrom my Father’s family lines were discovered at the Venango Co. Historical SocietyLibrary in Franklin, Pa.. Currently, the pictures with text fill two large notebooks. Theindividual pictures record family members &/or groups from the following lines: Sharps,Armagosts, Fisher, Woods, Marvin, Teed, Crowther, Noel, Myers, Baldensperger, Grove,Reid, Munnel, Rice, Hood, Jones, Whitman, Bowman, Shannon, Yarlett, Herring,McAlevey, Beightol, Hazlett/Haslett, Macintosh & Hoover.

It is my desire to increase the number of pictures from the various related family lineswhich can be enhanced by adding a text recording the individual family history andrelationships. I am also interested in sharing copies of the current collection as some ofthese pictures date back to the era of tintypes and to some of the very first photographsever taken. One example of the vary oldest pictures is recorded on the Venango Co. Site under the heading of "James Sharp", a Civil War Soldier who was captured atGettysburg & died of starvation at Andersonville Prison.
