    Mr Cochran sir
This is the first of the colored population I ever helped into the world but I think the commands are as obligatory on the darkies as the whites to multiply and replenish the earth I suppose there amorous feelings are as great in the propagating their species as the whites and if they all pay as well as Mr Law I say success to them all in this line of business [.] as a remuneration for my services on leaving Mr. Law presented me with five Spanish dollars and for the same received my grateful thanks. [Signed] J Winans
